Key Responsibilities:

  • Welding & Fabrication: Perform welding on a variety of materials (steel, stainless steel, alloys, etc.) using different welding techniques, including TIG, MIG, Stick, and Stick welding.
  • Fitting & Assembly: Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding procedures to fit and assemble components for projects. Ensure all assemblies are accurate and comply with specifications.
  • ASME Standards Compliance: Ensure all welding and fabrication activities comply with ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) codes and standards (e.g., ASME Section IX, ASME B31.3, etc.).
  • Inspection & Quality Control: Inspect welds for accuracy, strength, and overall quality. Perform visual inspection and non-destructive testing (NDT) as needed.
  • Equipment Setup & Maintenance: Set up welding and fitting equipment, ensuring machines are properly calibrated. Conduct routine maintenance to keep equipment in good working condition.
  • Safety & Cleanliness: Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area at all times. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
  • Collaborative Work: Work closely with engineers, project managers, and other team members to meet project deadlines and ensure quality standards are met.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of work completed, including time sheets, materials used, and any inspections or tests performed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of welding and fitting experience in a professional setting.
  • ASME Skills: Strong understanding of ASME welding codes and standards (e.g., ASME Section IX, ASME B31.3, ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code).
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in TIG, MIG, Stick welding and other welding techniques.
    • Experience in welding high-pressure piping, pressure vessels, or other industrial applications.
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and technical drawings.
    • Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods such as X-ray and ultrasonic testing.
  • Certifications: Relevant ASME certifications or other welding qualifications (e.g., AWS, ASNT Level II, etc.) are preferred.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including lifting, standing for long periods, and working in confined spaces.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry Experience: Prior experience in [industry specific, e.g., Oil & Gas, Shipbuilding, Construction, Manufacturing].
  • Additional Skills: Experience in pipe fitting, structural welding, or fabrication is a plus.
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to mentor junior welders and fitters, providing guidance and ensuring high standards are maintained.
